Volunteer Drivers urgently needed by Gympie Medical Transport

For just over six months, Gympie Medical Transport has been providing travel assistance for residents of Gympie community to non-urgent medical appointments outside the Gympie area, from Hervey Bay in the north to Brisbane in the south and all points across the Sunshine Coast.

Our team is a 100 percent volunteer service. We live and breathe our commitment and values to the community, and we want people who share these values to join our team. Your commitment is our success.

The role of a volunteer driver

In this role, volunteer drivers support the Gympie community by collecting clients from their home, taking them to appointments, and return them to their homes after the appointment concludes.

You get to choose when you can assist, GMT does anticipate that one trip per week per driver is needed due to the number of clients requiring transport.

Volunteer drivers need to have a current driver’s license, however, GMT offers drivers onsite training for their RDA (Restricted Driving Authority) to take passengers in one of our brand new Toyota cars. Fuel for the cars is paid for by Gympie Medical Transport.

This position would best suit those with clear communication skills, patience, and empathy for those requiring transport. If you need to complete volunteering for Centrelink, GMT is registered for you to do so.

If you are looking for a rewarding voluntary opportunity in a very friendly environment, we would love to hear from you.

Please call the office on 07 5371 9823 and speak with Bev or Sally.
